I come from a bilingual family: I’m Italian, but I was born and raised in Germany.
I experienced firsthand both the challenges and the opportunities of growing up with two languages and two cultures — with deep roots in two homelands and branches reaching beyond borders. At times it was twice as demanding, but it allowed me to flourish.
Throughout my career as a translator and interpreter, I’ve been immersed in multilingualism every day for over twenty years.
But it was only after becoming a mother of two — children who are now bilingual — that I fully understood the value of the gift my parents gave me through our two languages.
At the same time, I felt a deep responsibility to do the same for my children and to offer them every opportunity and advantage that bilingualism can bring.
